Wordpress 2.3 does many things differently. Some tables that plug-ins require have been removed completely. I recommend that designers stick with 2.2.3 for the time being until more backward compatibility patches are applied. This site is running on 2.3 for testing purposes, but is still having problems displaying the loop. The deletion of the post2cat table has wreaked havoc on many a blog this week.

Joomla Endeleo was recently released and boasts updated scripts, media manager changes, and improved core templates.We hope to experiment with this new release after Matt and the Wordpress team finalize the new Wordpress release. Many Conscious Design sites will need back-end upgrades in the near future to stay on the cutting edge. Hooray for progress. Onward!

Our greatest open source software option just got a little better. While 2.3 isn’t quite ready yet, 2.2.3 is a nice patch release that improves security. Go out and grab it right now!

Conscious Design is in the midst of testing Wordpress 2.3 Beta. The nightly builds are going well thus far and have yielded much progress including a native tagging system, enhanced SEO capabilities, and much more. 

Wordpress 2.2.2 launched four days ago. Should you upgrade? Conscious Design says, “Yes!” but, only after carefully considering your list of current plug-ins. What plug-ins are currently compatible with 2.2.2? Check the list and see for yourself.

Wordpress 2.1.1 has been out and about for about a week now. I’ve seen mostly satisfied users. Processes have been streamlined: great. Bugs have been pared down: good.And on to the tiny ugly: breakable widgets. A nice feature has been added that deactivates any plug-in that will break a site. This is a nice courtesy, but I’ve noticed a lot more of the staple widgets breaking such as Recent Posts.Bundling widgets into one handy includes file was great for most people — especially widget novices. As a matter of personal preference, I preferred to have my widgets were they were.I’m willing to take the tiny uglies that go along with the goods and the greats in confidence that Wordpress will continue to evolve in a positive direction with loyal programmers patching all the way.
